| Gravity Boots - a New Inversion Experience |
|
Gravity Boots are not new, but regular users of inversion tables will find using gravity boots a new experience. Used with an inversion bar or rack, gravity boots allow the user increased movement and the freedom to perform more additional exercises than an inversion table.
The Gravity Boots from Teeters Hang-Ups provide additional cushioning, with 5/8” foam liners. Many users prefer gravity boots as they tend to distribute the load throughout the ankles far better than ankle clamps. Gravity boots also provide support to the calves, and many users feel more secure with gravity boots than ankle clamps.
Because gravity boots are often used with an inversion bar or rack, the user needs to be more physically fit than they would for an inversion table. Once the bar is released, the user must use their own body strength to control the rotation to 90 degrees, or whichever angle is possible. (Not all gravity boots facilitate 90 degree inversion). The user must also have the ability to lift the upper body high enough to reach the bar again once their inversion or exercise workout is complete. If the gravity boots are being used on an inversion table to provide additional security, the table supports the user and assists in rotation, requiring less effort from the user. Newcomers to inversion tend to prefer using gravity boots with an inversion table, as they feel they are more securely held in place. Although the ankle clamps are perfectly capable of securing the user, gravity boots do provide better support.
Exercises such as squats and crunches are highly effective when using gravity boots, as they will work different muscles to the ones used when upright. Performing exercises such as these when inverted in gravity boots works the core at the same time and balances the muscles. An inversion rack such as Teeter Hang-Ups’ EZ-Up can also be used for chin-ups, adding another feature to inverting with gravity boots and an inversion rack or bar.
Of course, the major benefits of inversion are still a feature of inverting with gravity boots. Progressive decompression of the joints allows them to hydrate, decompressing them with the same weight that compressed them when upright. The spine is re-aligned, and the benefits of slight traction are felt in the relief from back pain and joint fatigue that result from inversion. In addition, users report a reduction in stress and tension, improved posture and balance, and even improved mental alertness.
Because gravity boots can be used with an inversion bar or rack, they are a space-saving alternative to a full f5000 inversion table, and therefore popular for users with space constraints. Many gyms have inversion tables or gravity boots with inversion racks or bars. The freedom of movement that gravity boots used with a rack or bar will appeal to some users, while others may prefer the support and security provided by an inversion table. Whichever method the user chooses, they will experience almost immediate relief from back pain and improved overall wellbeing.
